As part of our business-to-business outreach in the GLBT travel world, we made sure not to miss the IGLTA Convention in Toronto this past week, May 7-10. The convention itself was a huge success, and on a personal note, it was the first time I was in Toronto, and as all Canadian cities, the warm welcome from the people I met was much appreciated.

There was so much that went on, including a conference workshop I presented with some of our gay travel colleagues related to working with a company such as Travelocity in GLBT initiatives. Overall, it is great to see that in these economic times, there are still many companies holding strong to their LGBT initiatives… it is great to see the support of companies for this important travel segment.

Highlights from the convention are many. For one, our friends at LogoOnline have come a long way, which they made clear by sponsoring and hosting the VIP Sponsors reception. Their advertising video they showed us all reminded us that Logo is definitely a company that creates a quality product and, being part of MTV Networks, gets quality television programming!

It was also great to see such companies as Out Adventure and Gay Cities making great strides and inroads, as well as to hear of the new developments at Regent Media with their new travel books. As always it is great to see Alan Beck and Rodney at Fun Maps, it would never be the same conference if they were not in attendance. Kudos to the IGLTA staff for putting on a great conference, John, Tom, Richard, Carlos and Devin were outstanding. It will be exciting to see the new board in action. There is a tremendous amount of talent amongst them, and I am confident they will take IGLTA to new levels.
